Gar fish.

Please can some one fill me in on:
1) the smallest species of actual gar.
2) where I can buy this gar in the uk.
3) the recommended tank size for this gar (in litres and cm please).
I know everything else I really need to know, thanks for reading!

1. The Shortnose Gar, followed by the Spotted Gar
2. Sorry I don't know. If I find out, I'll update you.
3. 454.249 litres (120 US gallons). However I would probably go larger. That's just the lowest I would ever go to keep one of these fish.

Well thanks a bunch for a reply, I've dealt with spotted gars before and will probably be getting one. How long will the tank need to be?

I would say at least 125 gallons IMO.

Or You could just get a Celebes half beak which looks like a little 4" gar.

454.249 Litres : 48″ x 24″ x 24″ – 48 1/2″ x 24 1/2″ x 25 1/2″
473.176 Litres: 72″ x 18″ x 21″
567. 811 Litres: 72″ x 18″ x 28″
I'd go with one of these. I'd probably go on the upper side though and probably go with the 567.811 Litres (150 US gallons), but you could go even bigger.
