goldfish are jumpers type?

i have a 40 galloon aquarium with no lid on it and im not planning to buy one and i want to know if goldfish can jump ? im worry D: :fish2:

They can, when I was about 3 or 4 my parents had one jump out of their tank. I think it's fairly common but I'm not 100% sure on that but I know it's at least possible.
 
Yes it's somewhat common. Remember that the tastiest meals in outdoor ponds come from the air. They've learned to jump every now and then for a snack. It's less common in aquariums though. IMO, you're definitely going to need a lid if you are worrying. It's pretty unpredictable when they'll jump, so with a lid you don't ever have to worry.
 
Yes they are jumper's so get a lid quick and always research the fish before you get it. I learned the hard way putting a south american cichlid in with non aggressive fish trust me it killed of my whole population.
 
My goldfish likes to jump. He's a shubunkin. I definitely recommend a lid.
