I have a 55 gallon tank with 7 cichlids and 1 algae eater. I used algae wafers before i had my algae eater because my catfish who is now dead was sucking on the glass and i thought it wanted some algae. Well i now have an outbreak of algae.. I've cleaned the glass several times and ornaments a couple of times. It keeps growing back. My glass is clean and the water is still green. When i scoop the water out it looks clear but in the tank its green.. Help me someone!

Do you have water parameters? We need levels for Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, pH. How long has the tank been set-up? last thing...please post pictures of your algae.

I took it to petco they didn't give numbers and go by colors.. they say its ok.

UV light will kill it.
You can also try a 3 day blackout and then run your lighting lees time daily..
