I recently added some anacharis and a single guppy to my 10 gallon tank. The anacharis leaves are starting to look shredded and I noticed that the guppy occasionally is biting and tearing at them. Is it a bad idea to have a guppy with anacharis or are they such hardy plants that this will not hurt them much?

It's rare IMO for guppies to bother plants. Anacharis is a soft plant so is very for fish to nibble on if they are wanting extra greens in their diet or to just tear at. If the damage is minimal I wouldn't worry. If he's actually eating what he's biting off you may just want to add some type of flake food with algae/veggie. If you have other fish in the tank you could also try cooking and deshelling some frozen peas, smush them up slightly, and add to the tank every 3 or so days. All my fish love peas.
