well after i manually removed most of my blue green aglae it appears that now i have hair algae. how can i get rid of this stuff, it is taking over and is all over my java moss and then attaches to everything else. i have a siamese algae eater which is supposed to eat it but hasnt yet. what else can i do to get rid of this stuff.

tank specs
20 gallons
48 watts
last check=nitrates at 10 ppm
co2 injected
kh of 5
ph of 7.6 which makes low co2 but my ph has not yet dropped

I think it's safe to say that your Co2 setup isn't doing anything.

1. Start using Excel until you get a handle on the Co2 situation.
2. Bump your nitrates up closer to 15 ppm.

Most test kits aren't able to accurately measure low levels of nitrates. Your 10 ppm reading could actually be closer to 0 than you think. Do you have a phosphate test kit, and if so what does it say?

Hair algae can be caused by infrequent water changes, high nitrate levels or too strong lighting, is there sunlight in the room where your tank is located? There are some shrimp that will eat hair algae. Try taking it out with a toothbrush, it pulls off pretty easily.

Good luck, algae can really be a pain in the butt..
