Hi,

Just noticed this stuff on the tank glass. It sort of flutters in the current.
It is just algae.

Still in our first year and learning

Thanks!
Fishy Fisherson :)

Im not sure exactly what it is, but its quite common in new tanks. Could be a type of algal growth or it could be a biofilm. In any case its harmless, just scrape it off your glass.

What are the parameters of your tank?

It's gone!

Sorry for the delay. Most recently - the tank was 0/0/20. We scraped the white stuff off - some of the fish even picked at it. I was worried that tank was in trouble. It did not cause a problem.

We do have some brown algae now -- we just scrape that too. Possibly related...

Tank seems crystal clear and healthy overall.

I've had the same thing, it's harmless.
