The cardinals want warmer water then all others .
Switch them for neons.
Skip the gourami they are[the dwarfs] all garbage fish from crap Asian farms .
Latest numbers have the Asian DG being 75% infected with DGIV.
Most find very few fish are good at coexisting with shrimp...
I think long and hard on which you want in your tank most.

Thanks for your input.
I can swap the cardinals for neons no problem I went for the cardinals as I thought they were hardier than the neons.

Could I swap the dwarf gourami for a different gourami kind like say a pearl?

I didn't realise shrimp and fish weren't able to co exist what is the reason for this do the fish try to eat or bully the shrimp?

You could also try Honey Gouramis. I have a pair in my 20 gallon and they are doing amazing so far.

That is good to know thanks for that. Are the honey gourami have to be either both female or one male and one female?

Like with most fish, you need 2-3 females for every male. If you just do a pair, the male will chase the female to death. I have personally seen this happen. Love HG's though. Much more than my DG. If you have cories you will need sand FYI.
