With the Hurricane possably taking out the power in the next few days I need some advice. Do i need to hook up my very very small generator to my Community tank 24/7 or can I let it run for a few hours at a time then cut it off? I know my betta should be ok cutting it on and off but with my larger tank im concerned.

If both have filtration you dont want to leave it off for to long because it may kill the bacteria.

If you loose power take the filter media and submerge it in the tank. It should be fine for a couple of days like that. If it gets too cold wrap the tank in aluminum foil and blankets to keep the heat in.
