I just fired up a tank with Brightwell fine grade Aquasoil. It's very clean and easy to work with, on paper it should.grow plants like a boss.. if you want a true planted tank gravel is an utter waste of time. Eco complete at the very least..

This episode should have just taught you that you shouldn't listen to your lfs :)


They weren't the ones who told me to change it out every 6 months, the manufacturers did.
I have never asked my lfs anything because I already know I can't trust them.
I did research the brand before I bought it but no one mentioned it clouding the water so much...
 
You can use nice sand and just add root tabs. No dirt. Easy to plant in

Yeah I think I'm going with that, mainly because in a few months I'm going to uni so I really want to lower the maintenance as much as possible .
I was going to the lfs to get some black sand yesterday but I got caught up so I'll go on the weekend.
Still have some time to decide for definite what I'm going to do.
