HOB overflow

Are they trustworthy? I guess i am paranoid about a tank overflow and was wondering your thoughs on their failure rates.

I had one on a 75g for about 6 months and never had a problem. My friend has one on his 72g bowfront for about a year and a half now and hasnt had a problem either. I know that some have a way to hook them up to a power head to keep from losing suction.

If you are truely paranoid just get a switch to cut the electric from the main pump before it overflows.

I use this switch: Ultralife Float Switch

You can look it up online at a store or use a LFS. This switch and an overflow that has a way to get the air out of the u-tube (or CPR) will work fine and not destroy your floor/house.
