I've read that a female platy can store a male's sperm after mating. And can get pregnant more than once after a single encounter with a male. Is this true? If so, for how long?

Yes they can store the sperm but I'm not sure how long? I know have have had some mollies (very similar) and about 3 weeks after the male died the female started getting big with babies.

I'm asking all this because I'm thinking about breeding some of my platys. But I want to breed a particular male. He has stripes!
