How many ryukin goldfish in a 55 gallon?

You could easily keep 2, even 3 if you do weekly large water changes.

I would say you could go up to 4

The rule I've learned through Solid Gold is one fancy goldfish for the first 20 gallons, then one per ten gallons after that, so I'd say four. Being poop machines, big water changes for goldfish are a good idea.
