how much flow per gallon of water?

I remember reading it on here somewhere, and now I can't find it for the life of me.......
what's the general rule? How many gph per gallon of water in your tank. I think I remember between 10 and 20, is this right? This is for corals of course, not fish only.
 
And some companies will tell you 5x.

I like about 8x its a happy medium for me.
 
A general rule of thumb is a minimum of 10x per hour tank turnover in a reef. Where exactly to go from there really depends on the type of corals you keep. HTH
