how smart are dwarf puffers

I've only had mine 5 days but it already knows that when it sees the tweezers in the tank (what I use to feed it bloodworms) or a syringe (how I feed it brine shrimp and daphnia), that it's going to get fed.

I've heard they are smart, but how smart
 
Very smart. Puffers are probably one of the smartest fish that we come across in the hobby. They're able to recognize their owners, remember things for a while and and begging for food. You have to make sure that they have plenty of things to explore or they'll end up glass surfing, which is going back and forth at the glass when they're bored. I think they're really smart, and so are the larger puffers.
