Various species in several genera (for example Hypostomus, Pterygoplichthys, Liposarcus, etc.) are sold as "common" plecos. They will grow to anywhere from 10" to 2', depending on species. IMO, the markings on yer fish suggest Pterygoplichthys pardalis. If so he'll max out at 14"-15".
