I don't feel particularly bad about fry being eaten in any of my tanks. We strive to create little aquatic ecosystems in our tanks. Part of that balance of nature is breeding and the natural culling (when fish eat fry) that takes place afterwards. In the wild, fry are an important part of the diet of many other fish.

I think we do a great harm when we keep all 30 guppy fry and take them to the lfs. In the wild, all 30 never would have survived, only the smart and strong would have made it, thereby strengthening the strain. When we keep all 30, and turn around sell them, we are perpetuating the weak and sickly, thereby weakening the strain. Now that's not natural.
