Jack dempsey removing gravel from its cave ?

One of my jack dempsey's is picking up gravel from inside its cave and spitting it out outside its cave over and over again. Does anyone know what the reason is behind this behaviour?

It's picking out his spot. If you have a pair it maybe time to dim the lights and turn on Barry white.

It's normal. My JD does it all the time.

Almost every SA / CA cichlid will dig. My RD and Trimac would both move half the substrate to the other side of the tank. It's totally normal. It's just in their nature to dig.

Cichlids love to dig. Even my oscar buddies take gravel in mouth and throw it...
