Es I have finally just got my tank started. Getting into nitrogen cycle. My question is my skimmer isn't broke in yet which is causing it to fill with water. Which means I'm having to top off my sump every several hours due to loss water. So I'm I to fill up with same salinity water since evaporation isn't the cause of water loss

I know nothing about skimmers but yes, if the salt leaves with the water then use SW for top off. A better way to look at it is to test the specific gravity before you top off. If it is low, add SW that is a bit higher. If it is right where you want it, add SW with the same specific gravity. If it is high, add FW.

Your skimming shouldn't be causing you to lose water. Sounds like you need to lower the water level inside it. What skimmer do you have?
