Aquarium Advice Regular
Hello again,
Recently our 29 gallon planted tank has been going through an algae bloom. The stuff is literally everywhere in the tank. To combat this outbreak, we have been performing water changes to keep the nitrates down and feeding less. Last weekend we reached the point where we decided to bring in an "algae eater" to help with the cleanup. We picked an otocinclus because we read about how they tirelessly clean the tank and are a good community fish.
Well it has been a week and I have been the only one to clean any algae from the tank. The oto just lays around all the time and swims up and down the walls when he does move (not cleaning them at all). Is this guy just a lazy oto? Has anyone else run into similar problems?
And lastly, how can I rid myself of this algae?
Btw, my parameters are good (ammo 0, nitrItes 0, nitrates 10, ph 7.6). I use sera florena fertilizer (less than half a dose).
Thank you all!
