What are some ways to tell if I have a male lemon jake? Recently bought some fry/juvi's and a couple have yellow tips on their dorsal fin. Wondering if this is a sign of male or not?

If you can see a little color it's likely a male. Lemon jakes take a long time to really color up.

No I wouldn't say so... even females can have a little color mostly seen on the tips of fins. If your talking about Aulonocara jacobfreibergi they probably won't start coloring up for a year to two give or take a little. Most Aulonocara from my experience start coloring up around 2.5-3"
