Aquarium Advice Regular
1~What type of fish is afflicted? In addition, please describe what is wrong with the fish to the best of your ability (i.e. cotton like growth, bloated, etc.). lemon tetra w/ mouth rot
2~What are your tank parameters (ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, temp, pH)? Please give exact values. ammonia 0 nitrites 0, nitrates 10, temp 78 degrees
3~ How large is the tank? 90 gallons How long has the tank been set up?4 years
4~What type of filtration are you using? was using a fluvall cannister and now I am using AquaClear for up to 110 gallons for the past 4 months now.
5~How many fish are in the tank? What kinds of fish are they and what are their current sizes? I have (1) 4 in Turquoise severum, (2) 3 in Angels, (6) Serpae tetras 1.5 in,(4) blk/gld neons 1.5, (6) Lemon tetras 1.5 in, (3) corey cats 2in.
6~When is the last time you did a water change and vacuum the gravel? Sunday....How often do you do this? On a weekly basis..... How much water do you remove at a time? 10-15% weekly
7~How long have you had the fish? The Lemon Tetras I have had only for 2 weeks now, everything else I have had for 2-3 years and some longer If the fish is new, how did you acclimate it/them? I acclimated the Lemon Tetras in a 10 gallon hospital tank for almost 2 weeks and placed them in the large tank 3 days ago and now I am noticing 2 of them have what looks like mouth rot.
8~Have you added anything new to the tank--decor, new dechlorinator, new substrate, etc.? NO
9~What kind of food have you been feeding your fish, have you changed their diet recently? I feed Tetra Color, and as treats I give bloodworms, daphnia, krill. I also went by local fish specialist and picked up some Sulfathiazole. I was told to place the Sulfathiazole it in the food to make sure the fish get the meds, but all the fish should be medicated because they have been exposed to the fungus already. How long should I give this? It says 5 days and will I see results in that time?
Or is this something that I may have to treat on a longer term basis.
Thanks for any replys or suggestions...Has anyone else ever had fish with Mouth rot?
