How long per day should my tetras be exposed to tank light?

Anywhere from 8-12 hours a day is fine for the fish. 10 is probably a good place to run at as long as you're not having any algae issues.

In all my planted tanks, the lights are on a ten hour timer, but in my non plant aquariums, I just turn them on sometime in the morning and before I go to bed. I don't really have a schedule or anything.
