I am about to purchase some low light plants (anubias, crypts, java fern, java moss) for my 29 gallon (16 in height) tank. I have a T8 bulb and have done enough lighting research to know that it can support low-light plants.

I am interested, however, in slightly upgrading my lighting to push more into the upper extent of low-light PAR ratings for the sake of better success. I have referenced the link from TPT forum shared by Old Scales (the one with the graph and table on PAR rating) and I think I want to go with PC lighting (single bulb).

First of all, does this seem reasonable to replace my T8 with PC in order to improve my lighting but still stay "low light".

Second, will a PC bulb fit right into my aqeuon 24 inch hood or will this upgrade require a new hood set up?
