I've been thinking about stocking my empty 55g tank with some small predatory/oddball fish. Can someone provide any brilliant ideas as far as stocking?

"Pedator" and "Small" don't go together. Most any fish that can be classified as predatory is around 6 inches or larger. A Butterfly fish is about the only thing that would allow you to have more than 1 or 2 fish.

Probably the most popular option for a predator tank is a single oscar which might be worth looking into.

I'm going to go with something smaller than an Oscar in my 55. I might do a brackish setup with a "freshwater" moray eel. I'm not sure what exactly I want yet.
