I read up about them.. They seem to get pretty big, something said 150l tank.. But I suppose they over do it on sites like the one I was on, I believe she is a female due to the claws? (I am no shrimp expert) She's in an 11l just now, once I convince my parents I will get a 15/20gal for her :) Second hand though, they wont let me buy another new one. P.S. her name is Hannah-Belle, can anyone guess why?

When mine was finally caught, it was about a foot and a half long (Claw to tail). It was in a heavily planted 180g, so it was hard to see. It took about 2 years to get that big.

Sounds like a nightmare.. At least I can train it to eat people like the people who sold it to me.. >.<

Here's a few pictures, she's looking cute in one which is rare, but evil in the other. She likes her bloodworms.

I can't see her with blue claws... And she's turning a brown colour.. Instead of pale with blue claws, I don't think she's a M. Rosenbergii :(

I'm raising a monster! Young ones have brown arms with yellow bands like the first photo of her eeek! The second one really looks like her.. Getting her a new tank it's about 20-30 gallons.. I'm going to need a bigger tank! Has anyone got any photos of a young long armed prawn about 1-3 inches long? It would really help me ID her as this huge prawn.

holy... thats huge, ill try and find pics from google

Hmm, nope her claws are longer, she looks like the first and second one on the chart. I've been trying to find more pictures on google too.. Here's more of her from above, I think most of the pictures of shrimp like these are from above.. This was while I was cleaning her tank. Her body looks more of a tan than a clear colour on white paper.

I believe you posted this on petshrimp.com as well. You can see my reply here: Petshrimp.com Discussion Forum • View topic - Shrimp ID?

That is not a female, nor is it a Rosenbergii. I think it is probably an M. Dayanum or M. Assamensis. Tough to say as there are hundreds of named prawn throughout the world.

Pics of Rosenbergii throughout its lifecycle process here:

Sorry to hear about the co-inhabitants that were killed by it. I'm happy you decided to keep the prawn though. Many probably would have culled the poor thing. As you said, it's just doing what it's programmed to do. They are very intelligent as crustaceans go and can even be trained to eat out of your hand.

Enjoy. :)

Aha! Thanks mate I new I had posted it on another site aswell as here and another shrimp site! Yeah I got into contact with someone who had pictures and it doesn't look like her I have to agree, I would give you reputation but I apparently can't! :( I'll look up those types thanks, I have already fed mine from my hand I do it nearly all of the time unless I am feeding her trout because she goes crazy for that (got videos on youtube).. She seems very aggressive. I put a shrimp in with her when it was the same size.. As soon as it was in she chased it like mad for a few moments until I could get the shrimp out who HATES getting netted.. But it ran in the net, it must've been scared.. Although I do love that she does not tear up live plants, she just cleans them.

They look a lot like her.. Except with the M. Dayanum.. Her whiskers are a solid brown.

I sent thanks to you guys, I don't really know what it does..?
