Yep zebra plecos are ridiculous. Though I do see them often for less them $200 locally.

It's one time when it comes to fish keeping that I'm pleased I come from the U.K. You can get oneof those over here for £100 which is way more than I would pay but a lot cheaper than you lot are paying

The price is justifiable. They're banned from export in Brazil and there are a limited number in the aquarium trade. They require extremely specific conditions to breed and take about four years to reach maturity. Gorgeous though.

My lfs has a breeding colony of them, so I get to go see them all the time. They have at least 20 of them if I remember correctly
