I was at the LFS today and they had some LR with kelp on it. Said it can bring the nitrates down. Now I dont have a nitrate problem but I was wondering if there were any other benefits from it? What fish eat it? It looked kinda cool.
If it is what is listed here: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=664
the fish usually will not eat it. A catch 22, although plants can be a good nutrient export, some still require very good water conditions with low nitrates or they wont survive. This particular plant requires high lighting of 4 wpg or more and low 'trates.
