I have a Bristlenose plec whose just over 3inches I was wondering how can I tell what gender she is, bristles have started to appear around her mouth is there any other visible signs to help. Thanks any advice would be great :)

My bn is about 3 inches and no bristles. Had it for about 6 months and it has always been the same size. I believe it to be a female due to the lack of bristles. I would say yours is probably a male. Someone with more knowledge on them will correct me if I am wrong :)?

Thanks, I wondered that as well poor thing has been getting called miss piggy! Because of its appetite :)

Looks like a female to me, lack of bristles. You say 3 inch? Can't guarantee until slightly larger but looks female at this stage.
