Is there a wrong way or right way to pruning some fast grouwing plants?

I am playing around with some stem plants I have (sorry I will have to get the names later). I simply but them with a sissors and 'replanted'. Is this right???

For most stem plants that is correct. Replant the growing tip and it will keep growing. The "base" that is left after the trimming may or may not grow depending on the species (most will).

Clean scissors work just fine, so do fingernails for most folks. I use dental scissors myself.
