Very nice pic Flamingonhot. Even though I dont usually use mechanical Filtration I am on my seahorse tank. I am a firm believer that LR and a skimmer does best but I did not want to use a skimmer for the micro bubbles issue. I did add a PH to my tank over the weekend. It is a 170 GPH PH. Should provide plenty of current for them without blowing them away. I`m trying to build a cage for my heater from this craft material that I got from walmart. Kind of Like that plastic stuff Sadie showed earlier. Hopefully we will be able to start up soon. Been out of work since Sept. 3rd because of ruptured Achilles tendon with still a month or so more to go so funds are a little tight right now. But we are moving slowly but surely.

Will you try to raise seahorse fry?

If so, I have heard that some types have babies that are much easier to rear than others (can be done within the main tank).

I have been considering a seahorse tank for some time (with the thought of breeding them as a great science project for the kids and fun for me); however, feeding the young is a big concern.

Best of luck & I will be keeping an eye on your posts

I`m hoping to get my seahorses today. I sill have to build the gard over the heater. I got a PH that does 170 GPH so I think this will be enough without blasting at the SH. I`ll post some pics if they come in.

I'll be waiting! How will you acclimate? I'm just curious if they need longer acclimation periods or not.....

That is a good question? Any ideas. I was going to drip acclimate for 3 hrs but let me check

They did not come in with the rest of the shipment. I`ll have to wait another week.

Just another final pic of the tank before the seahorses come. I also bought a CC starfish for the tank as part of the cleanup crew. I also made up the gard for the heater. Hopefully next week the SH`s will be here.

Well the LFS said that they should be down at the airport right now so it looks like today may be the day. Hopefully tomorrow I can post some pics. I put the PH inside the basket that will accomplish closing up the opening of the basket and making the intake of the PH inacessable to the SH`s.

OK after 3 hr acclimation. Here they are. I`m hoping to get better pics later but these will do for now. I`m going to attemt to feed a few mysis since they have not eat anything in two days. They dont have stomachs and need to eat a couple times a day. I`ll post again tomorrow

Haha... it might be torture, but which of us doesn't love that anticipation of something new and supercool coming for our tanks. LOL
Whenever I'm waiting for a package I'm like a 4yr old two days before Christmas... calling the wife all day long, "Did anything come yet?!? Are you sure? Maybe it came while you were in the bathroom. Did you look outside?"

Awwwww... they're so cute.
Give them a buffet. They deserve it after such a long ordeal.
I'll be watching this thread closely as my next purchase is a 20-30 high seahorse tank.

I'm counting on you to show me how it's done.
:multi:

No problem. I worried the whole way but It`s not over yet. Now I have to learn to take care of them.

Looks great :D Good thread for those interested in starting up a tank too (y)

LOL! I usually know before she comes home. I track them, so I know where they are!

I'm sure you will be a great dad!

Here are some more pics of the SH`s. How much flow should be in the tank. They seem to be kind of pushed around by the flow but I only have a small PH in the tank. Others have told me that they like flow. Well here they are
