Hey guys, know it's already been resolved but I have to do a similar thing and I have a clarification question.

If you can put a good amount of the tank water into buckets and bring it with you, then put that water back in the tank, does that stop the tank from having to cycle again?

Its the filtration media that will prevent a cycle, not the water.

So as long as I keep the filter media wet, I can put 55gal of new water in at it won't have to cycle at all? (also, does having a canister filter make this process any different?)

Sorry for stealing your thread, last one...I promise!:)

Just don't open the filter and leave it full of water. Make sure to lift it from the bottom so as not to break or Crack it. It will most likely be quite heavy
