It's now been a week since I slowly introduced the new Hikari pellets into their diet. I noticed the black moor was handling it quite well if he only ate a couple of the pellets. But tonight I raised the amount to almost a full feeding with zucchini, and he's back to sucking air and floating like a barrel.

I just wish he understood English so I could explain to him "if you suck air! your going to float!!!"

stupid fish.

Maybe you found his "floating point" stop for a day then give him a smaller amount maybe? I am just guessing at this point though.

I have not reintroduced pellets yet to mine waiting for the next batch of gel food.

Sounds like he has been doing better though glad to hear!

Glad he is doing better! If he is fine with just a few pellets, my suggestion would be to limit his pellets to just a few to prevent to floatiness & incorporate lots of veggies daily. Gel food may be worth considering in his case though!
