Lots of fish like to play/swim through bubble walls. It won't harm them in any way. You don't need an air stone/bubble wall usually the filter creates enough surface agitation. It is a good idea to have one as a back up incase the filter dies or you need to promote extra oxygen exchange like during ich treatment.
