I have otocinclus in my tank and they do a great job on the plants and also the gravel. I have 4 and I would recomment keeping them in groups of 3-4 since they interact with each other. They are very active and fun to watch. They even will pick out a plant and each sit on their own leaf and wave in the current.
I agree with the recommendation of otos (aka otocinclus). They are small enough to get into places other fish can't and they will eat algae off of leaves, rocks and almost anywhere else you can think of.
