Need help with an ID

All i have is a description, we had a loach when i was a kid, and I wondered about the level of skill and such they need and what they get along with and things like that for a future aquarium. it was maybe 4 inches long, had the tentacle looking mouth and was a purple with orange stripes? i haven't seen it at petsmart or walmart since, and the one i had got as a kid got chewed up by a fish my brother put in the tank. Anyone have an idea what type it could have been?

That looks verry much like it, is there a variation in the colors that would look a littly more neon?
