neon tetras help

I bought 5 neon tetras yesterday at my petsmart and one of them had an eaten off tail fin. My question is, will it grow back? And why do they just sit at the bottom?

I'm sure it's stress after being netted and moved, give him some time with the lights out and they'll come around. As far as the tail keep the water clean(the tank is cycled right?)and the tail will grow back, if there are no more neons in the tank I would purchase more and bring the total to 7-9 if you have more room.

yea it sounds good but that'll be a fully stocked tank.

I could do 10 and some RCD right? Being that shrimp have almost no bioload correct

You can do that, or less neons and a center piece fish

Was its tail like that when you bought it? When buying fish it is best to look closely and pick out the healthiest looking ones.

I also second HUKIT's advice, tetras are less aggressive in larger groups. They tend to do better with at least the 7-9 hukit recommended.
