New 40 Gallon Setup and Transfer

Ok. My supervisor advised me that there is a possibility that our office may be making a move to another near by location. I mention this because I have three tanks in my office that will need to be moved. Ugh. I was planning on moving these tanks to my house once I had all the corals and critters moved into my 40 at home. Ok maybe not all the critters. What is the best way to move a tank without loosing anythng.?

After gluing in the panel and waiting for the calk to dry about 24 hrs. I added water to the sump to test the panel and had a few spots where water was coming through. Had to dry out the sump and re calk the panel. Will see if its dry tonight. If so, I will add water again to test the panel for leakage. If no leaks I will fill the dump and start running the pump again.

Are you using caulk or silicone?

I'm using silicone. Had another setback when I filled the sump and started running the pump. The 90 degree elbow under the cabinet is leaking a bit. Now I have to fix that this weekend.

I tried to fix the dripping elbow by shooting the primer and glue through a large needle I had into the elbow. I still have a small drip so I will try again today to stop the drip. Luckily its the elbow under the cabinet so its dripping into the sump. I left the pump running last night because the tank has been sitting for a while with the water in it. I turned the skimmer on also. I will have to do a water change before I put any animals in there.

Sounds good when it comes to breaking in the skimmer early. It will most likely overflow a ton on you with the PVC cement or whatever you are using. May I ask why you are trying to seal form the inside rather than the out at this point?

Thanks Sniperhank. I was attempting to fill in the part that was dripping but was not successful. I am going to put some leal stop on the outside of the elbow today when I get home from church. I will post pictures later as well.

Just use silicone. Leak stop could leach who knows what into the water. 100%, no mildew additives silicone.

If the outside of the elbow is not in the water just brush some PVC cement around the seal and put something under out to catch any that may drip. Once it dries call it a done deal.

I could try the silicone. I didn't think of that. Thank you.

I did try to put some pvc cement around the elbow where it was leaking but I don't think I put enough of it on there. Maybe I will try another coat of that before using the silicone. If that doesn't work I will use the silicone.
