So my wonderful girlfriend is getting me a 60G. I already have a Marineland C360 canister filter for it. Besides a couple Betta tanks over the years, this is my first major tank in almost a decade.

I was looking for advice on what to stock it with. I want to do a new world cichlid tank, but after some research I feel like it may be a little advanced for my skill level at the time. I would like an active community tank with a larger centerpiece fish or two.

I was planning on the fish to come from the same region and scaping the tank towards their natural environment.

And advice and suggestions would be great and thanks for all the advice to come!

Personally, I think Cichlids are easy to keep because they are very hardy. It's a matter of not overstocking (except with Africans), pumping up filtration, and getting good temperaments.
