Hi, new to the site and the aquarium world. I have a 50 gal freshwater tank with some tiger barbs and a placo, i plan to make it moderate to heavily planted and need to replace the lights and pump before doing so. what do you think of 4x54W T5 HO lights and a marineland magnum 350 pump

that might be a bit heavy on the lights but i found them for a reasonable price, here is a link

Fish Tank Aquarium Light 48" 4x54w T5 HO Lamp Fixture - TheLaShop

:thanks:

I would say that's more light then you need but for that price that is absolutley amazing.. I don't know about the brand....really though that's like a 1/3 the price of most similar setups so makes me wonder about the quality

yea i was thinking the same thing, but i think i will try it out. is the pump a good choice for a heavily planted tank?

oh and when doing a gravel vac anything special to know or do i just avoid planted areas and the plants will basically feed off of the waste/amonia
