Hello just bought a new fish and wondering what's the best way to put him in my tank? Some people seem to say put in a qt tank for a week or two and other says just add him to the dt

Tank has been up for about a year. It's a yellow eye tang it's a 70
Gallon tank

If you have a qt tank I'd definitely qt him for a couple weeks to watch for Ich. Especially since it's a tang. If you don't I'd add him and just try to keep him really well fed for a while

Considering that some marine parasites have a life cycle of 6-8 weeks or longer, unless you know for sure that the place you got the fish from has medicated the fish for internal parasites or you are going to, I would keep the fish in QT for at least that amount of time. Most parasites have an in the fish, on the fish then off the fish into the substrate period so just because you don't see anything on the fish does not mean it's not IN the fish. :nono:
