ok i messed up and ordered these lights https://www.petsolutions.com/Outer+Orbit+HQI+Fixture-I-42901040-I-C-40001736-C-.aspx
i failed to see read the diamensions. the lights are 15 wide my tank is 12 wide, 15 in the center cause its a bow front. What are my options. if i hang from the celling it will hang 4 feet to the top of the tank. How high would i want to hang it above the glass? the legs were only 3 inches! someone make this nightmare end!!!!!

have you tried contacting the site you purcahed them from and seeing if they will allow you to trade the item for the correct size? I think I would try that first before trying to come up with a way to make them "Fit"

I would at least ask the seller. Sometimes they dont list everything they carry on Ebay (or wherever you may have bought it).

They may even be able to order something to fit your tank that they don't usually stock.

i called them and they will take the lights back.. problem is i cant find anything on there site and the phone person isnt really a fish specialist more like a secretary who has the capability of getting on line like me :(

those lights are awesome... however i cant spend that much :( thanks for looking for me...

Dimensions: 36" x 11.5" x 6.5 with atleast 5 watts per gallon.. come on reef geeks its a challenge use your mad skilz and find me some lights that will fit the above size.. :)

I am not set on any one kind of light just cant be over 400 bucks +/- shipping and have to fit tank and be able to support my reef.. i am still looking but i really am not sure what to get ... found a few lights but not sure its it what i need. FOWLR was much easier

FOWLR was much easier
Yeah I hear you on that one. After having a couple different tanks both fresh and saltwater I was thinking about doing a planted one but ferts are driving me nut so I think I might just bite the bullet and go back to saltwater before I get all this stuff for fresh and figure out I dont like it.

Did some more looking.
This I think is the cheapest fixture out there should be within specs and have about 5.4 wpg.

If your handy with DIY type projects this should even be cheaper.
