My wonderful girlfriend purchased me a use 60G aquarium, She was anxious to get it set up, I warned her of the time involved in cycling one. I only know what I have read, I have never cycled one before.

I know she wants to do a planted tank, I have 4 bags of Eco-Complete Black Substrate and want to begin. I do not have the means (other than filling the tank with water) to de-chlorinate the 60 gallons of water. the Eco-complete says to only use it in de-chlorinated water. how do I begin?

Also I know I need to track the levels as I go through the cycle, is there a list of all the things I need to track daily? Maybe a log sheet or something?

I want to do this right, Please help me begin this process.

I would rinse the gravel vary well!!!! First. If you're going to put Plans in right away put them in how u like. SLOW SLOW fill the first 10" or so. You'll have a lot less disruption of the substrate and much less cloudy.

Get Prime or Safe or Pond Prime. Prime is only 2 drops per gallon, so very economical.

You can def add plants during cycle.
