I need some help. i have never had a SW tank so this will be my first, i have how ever had a FW tank growing up(60gl?? dad really kept it i just looked) and currently have a 3000 gl koi pond. so i know some basics. what i am looking to do is put a tank in the wall of my basement i will be finishing in the next few months. i would like to have in my setup something along the lines of LITTLE NEMO. my son loves nemo so i think that would help get him involved aswell. just need some help with what size i should go with aswell as can i some how start the cycle process before the tank is installed like in a small aquarium in another room and then move it to the bigger tank when the room is done. thanks for any advice

Welcome to AA!!

Start with the largest tank you can afford! I would recommend as I'm sure many others will also to get your tank and all major equipment before you put the first drop of SW in the tank. You are going to need the tank first, especially if you are going to be putting it into a wall. What else other then Nemo are you thinking of? there are a lot of articles that you can read to help you out. After you have a better idea of what you want to do with the tank the people in here will gladly offer you their advice and expertise!

Please do not cycle your tank with live animals.

I agree, bigger is better. Those are some great articles. If you are going to cycle your smaller tank, you could move that into the larger tank, once it is installed.
