ok, I am running 3 tanks, the 90 and 40 are Fresh water. the 20 High is still under construction as seen below.

I chose a 20gal high because it was the only tank i could fit in the space provided.
I still have to finish the front wall, but i kept getting distracted by the starfish that keep falling out of my live rock, lol

I have a filter question.

right now i have live rock and live sand, for filter i have an AC110 and an Instant Ocean Skimmer.

i have standard filter media (carbon, bio)

should i do the DIY mod on my AC110 for a refugium, is there a benefit for it if i already have a tank full of live rock and live sand???

Get rid of the sponge and bio rings in the filter. Then do either the DIY refugium mod for it or get one of these AquaClear 110 Media Basket. Chaeto works great for nutrient export and an excellent place to grow pods.
Also replace your carbon with either Chemi-Pure or Purigen.

that's funny you mention that.
i just finished turning my 110 into a refug.
i am waiting for the silicone to dry before putting it back in tank.

I was going to do the chaeto route.
i made 3 compartments,
one is going to be for the sponge(filter for debris),
second is carbon (to be replaced with chemi-pure)
and the third is for the chaeto.

your thoughts?
