Hello all great site!!!

Total newbie here. I just filled my 29g 30x18x12. I have a Topfin 40 (200gallon p/ hr). Is this filter sufficient for a planted tank? If so, what is the bare minimum($) amount/kind of substrate that I can use. I plan on retro-fitting my existing 24'' light with a 55W jober-do. Anyone got that link to the joint that sells those conversions?

Thanks.!.

Substrate depends on the plant choice. But if you want high light rooting plants then you really want flourite. Schultz sells a similar product if you can still find it called pond soil.
