1~What type of fish is afflicted? Started with 3 glow eye Tetras and 3 black skirt Tetras on 8/6. As of 8/9 I am down to 1 glow eye and 1 black skirt.
2~What are your tank parameters (ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, temp, pH)?
0 ppm on ammonia and nitrate. pH is 6.8. Temp stays constant at 76 without need for a heater.
3~ How large is the tank? How long has the tank been set up? 20 gallon tank. It was setup on 8/4 and fish added 8/6. I am aware this was incorrect. I did a 50% water change on 8/9 and purchased a master test kit to start monitoring the water.
4~What type of filtration are you using? TopFin HOB Silentstream 20 Power filter.
5~How many fish are in the tank? What kinds of fish are they and what are their current sizes? 2 remain- 1 glow eye tetra and 1 black skirt tetra. Both are less than 2 inches.
6~When is the last time you did a water change and vacuum the gravel? How often do you do this? How much water do you remove at a time? I vacuumed the gravel and removed 50% of the water on 8/9.
7~How long have you had the fish? If the fish is new, how did you acclimate it/them? Again, a mistake- I just dumped them into the tank. Fish were purchased on 8/6.
8~Have you added anything new to the tank--decor, new dechlorinator, new substrate, etc.? All new decor was added when tank was setup on 8/4. I used quick start and water conditioner when it was new and with the water change.
9~What kind of food have you been feeding your fish, have you changed their diet recently? Fluval Bug Bites Tropical Formula Flakes
So I am new to this again (I haven't had a tank since I was a kid). I rushed to setup the tank for my daughter's 4th birthday. I lost 4 of the 6 fish then performed a 50% water change out as recommended from my post in the newbie section. I was only using test strips prior to 8/9 so I could not monitor ammonia. Since the 50% water change out the levels appear to be maintaining but the remaining 2 fish will not eat. They don't appear to be sick but they refuse to eat. I put a few flakes in 3 times a day and they won't even come towards the food. Any ideas?
