Newtank new fish and no ammonia showing yet?

Hi there,

I have a 10 gal. tank with 2 zebras Danios. I bought them Friday night. I test the water daily with the API Master Kit and it's not showing any ammonia, nitriate, or nitrates at all. How long before I start seeing ammonia?

It can take a while with small fish before ammonia registers. I had a 10g with 1 male Betta & ammonia rarely if ever went above .25 & most of the time barely registered that.
