I reaceny got an oscar chiclid and ive had him for a couple hours he hasnt moved he just lays on his side whats wrong with him

Give him some time to adjust to his new home, they're huge babies and will sulk for days after a large change in their daily routine. Don't feed him for a day or two along with leaving the lights out and let him be.

What size tank is he in?

What are your water parameters?

Its been up for 48 hours got the water checked it was perfect

Oscar ahhhh my favorite cichlid :)

Not to be rude hopefully lol.........
But the 40g tank for a Oscar is only going to last about three months or at least to he's 4"-5" before you are going to need at least a 90g for one to be conferrable .
Now what you talking about might have been the lack of good temp and water acclimation :-/ but I hope he recovers.
There's alot of info on the web about oscars and there care.
With good care this fish would become one of your favorite fish.

I also have a 110 gallon tank i can put him in but the store i got him at tanks temp were low and didnt look very good could this be my problem
