Hi all, finally picked up 65g tank. I'm having some issues with the setup (before I even put water in!). I found out half way through that the overflow kit was the standard size but my tank is 24 inches tall. The return pipe I replaced with a longer one but the intake is a good 4 to 5 inches shorter. Does this make a difference? Also, im having trouble with the return tubing. I was able to get it on the pump but can't get it to fit around the return pipe. I cut a slit in it and duct taped it..not sure if that will work. Is there a trick to expand the rubber to fit this piece? I tried boiling it but that didnt expand it enough. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated as I'm anxious to start my cycle.
