Just as the title asks, what's a good size rank for a couple pea puffers?

A pair or trio in a heavily planted ten gallon would work.

If you have more than one make sure they have plenty of food and have lots of vision breaks. A lot like a betta tank.

Personally I would go 5 gallons for one to two 10 gallons for 3 and a 15 or 20 for five.

Just make sure you keep on the nitrates! You may want to look into plans to make an algae scrubber.
